Extended School Year Program (ESY)
Collier High School ESY Program 2024
This summer, students will have a variety of components to select from, depending on what would benefit them the most as they work towards the ability to develop into fully contributing members of the community. The goal of all activities is to develop teamwork and build self-confidence. The target population includes High School students who are in need of guidance and structure to prepare for a productive future. Learn more about our available tracks below including Credit Recovery (new for 2024!), Personal Wellness, Work-Based Learning, Social Emotional Learning, and Job Skills Readiness.

Additional Program Enhancements may include:
- Credit Recovery
- Students earn 2.5 credits in Financial Literacy
- Transition Program for students entering high school
- Individual and group counseling
- Anger management
- Conflict resolution
- Healthy lifestyle choices
- Daily recreation time
- Field trips and guest speakers
Participants are eligible to earn a stipend based on their attendance and cooperative participation in all activities. They will be evaluated on daily performance and will meet with staff to discuss their performance on an as-needed basis.
Available Tracks:
Includes daily guided workouts at a local Planet Fitness. Students enrolled in this also take a one-period Wellness course later in the day to focus on personal goals.
Please note that any student under 16 cannot attend off-campus placements. Students in this track complete an online course in job readiness through Rutgers. Students 16+ will venture off campus for hands-on work experience.
Students enrolled in this benefit from greater mental health support. They participate in daily groups and activities that offer coping skills and relaxation tools. Students complete various craft project throughout the summer and go home with a kit to use after the program has ended.
Students work on daily projects such as landscaping, painting, building furniture, 等. while learning positive ways to work as part of a workgroup, respond to feedback, act as project manager, 等.
Students will be offered academic support as they earn credit recovery through Educere courses or project-based learning, depending on their individual needs.
Application Process
Application and USDA Forms are required for all ESY participants; Students not currently attending Collier will also need to submit a current IEP and Medical Forms.
